When a book travels, an opportunity begins

At the Galapagos Life Fund, we believe that conservation is also built through education . That’s why we support initiatives that open doors, spark curiosity, and connect younger generations with their environment.
The Traveling Libraries project, implemented by the Charles Darwin Foundation, concluded with a virtual exchange between rural schools in Isabela and Santa Cruz, where students and teachers shared readings, ideas, and experiences. Beyond the books, what emerged was a space for connection, imagination, and shared learning.
Throughout this process, traveling book kits with around 420 educational materials were circulated, accompanied by workshops, reading facilitation sessions, and creative activities—reaching more than 350 students and teachers across different islands of the archipelago.
At GLF, we support initiatives like this because we know that every story read, every idea shared, and every child who discovers the value of learning is also a step toward building a culture of conservation.
Because caring for Galapagos begins by opening books—and discovering new worlds.
