Strengthening Sustainable Small-Scale Fishing in Galápagos

GLF, August 17, 2026

Fundación de Conservación Jocotoco, the Galápagos Life Fund (GLF), and the COPESPROMAR Fishing Production Cooperative continue to join efforts to strengthen sustainable small-scale fishing and enhance the capacities of the fishing sector in Galápagos. As part of this joint effort, a refrigerated truck was delivered today to COPESPROMAR on San Cristóbal Island.

The vehicle will improve the transportation of fishery products, helping maintain the cold chain, improve marketing conditions, and strengthen the Cooperative’s operational capacity.

This delivery is part of the project “Strengthening Sustainable Fisheries Management and Governance in the Galápagos Marine Reserve,” funded by the Galápagos Life Fund and implemented by Fundación Jocotoco. The project promotes responsible and sustainable fishing practices aligned with the conservation objectives of the Galápagos Marine Reserve.

Through concrete actions like this, we continue to strengthen the small-scale fishing value chain and promote opportunities that contribute to a more sustainable fishing sector in Galápagos.
