Teachers trained with new educational resources
, April 24, 2026
As part of the Education for Sustainability in Galápagos project, funded by the Galápagos Life Fund (GLF) and implemented by Fundación Scalesia with support from ECOS, a series of training workshops is being delivered to pedagogical leaders across the three inhabited islands. These efforts aim to strengthen their capacity to implement a contextualized curriculum aligned with the realities of the archipelago.
Through this process, approximately 40 teachers receive specialized training, which they will then cascade within their educational institutions—expanding the initiative’s reach and promoting education that is closely connected to the local environment and the conservation of marine ecosystems.
In addition to the workshops, the project has developed a range of educational tools and resources funded by the GLF, including a compendium on artisanal fisheries, pedagogical planners, inventories of Experiential Learning Scenarios (EVAs), and a self-guided workshop. These materials are designed to support their practical application in the classroom and strengthen place-based learning.
