In Galápagos, conservation also means building the next generation

By Galápagos Life Fund, April 27, 2026

Through the “Guardians of Marine Life” program, 46 young people from Santa Cruz Island actively participated in educational camps focused on the ecological monitoring of sea turtles, mangroves, and lagoons, applying citizen science protocols and data collection techniques at Las Bachas Beach.

This program, co-implemented by the Galápagos National Park Directorate and ECOS, and funded by the Galápagos Life Fund, strengthens local capacities and creates opportunities for community participation in monitoring processes—helping to foster a new generation committed to protecting their natural heritage.
