Guardians of Marine Life Present the Results of Their Project
, June 20, 2026
As part of World Sea Turtle Day, we were pleased to share the results of the Guardians of Marine Life project with the Galápagos community.
Throughout the project, young people from across the archipelago strengthened their scientific skills by monitoring sea turtles, mangroves, and coastal lagoons, learning how to observe, record, and analyze information about the ecosystems that surround them.
Through citizen science, these young conservationists contributed valuable data that supports scientific research and strengthens the conservation and management efforts led by the Galápagos National Park Directorate.
Behind every dataset are early mornings on the beach, teamwork, curiosity, and young people who chose to play an active role in protecting their islands.
During the project’s open house, participants shared their experiences, lessons learned, and the results achieved with members of the community.
Guardians of Marine Life is an initiative led by the Galápagos National Park Directorate and the ECOS Foundation, with funding from the Galápagos Life Fund, the Houston Zoo, and IGTOA.
