The Galápagos Life Fund (GLF) has donated four 250 HP Yamaha outboard engines to the Galápagos National Park Directorate (GNPD) as part of the Cooperative Strengthening Project for the Monitoring and Surveillance System of the Hermandad Marine Reserve and the Galápagos Marine Reserve, co-executed by Fundación Jocotoco.
This donation will enhance the Park’s patrol capacity, allowing for longer, more efficient, and safer operations to protect the marine protected areas of Galápagos and Hermandad.
“Strengthening the capacities of local authorities is key to ensuring marine conservation and the sustainable use of our resources,” said Mónica Calvopiña, Executive Director of the GLF.
With GLF’s support, joint efforts between institutions continue to protect marine biodiversity and ensure that the benefits of conservation also reach local communities.
