Ing. Alfredo Jimmy Bolaños Carpio is the President of the Governing Council of the Special Regime of Galápagos. He holds a degree in Agricultural Engineering from the Escuela Politécnica del Ejército (ESPE) and an International Master’s degree in Ecological Agriculture. Committed to sustainable development and the preservation of natural resources, he has successfully led the formulation, management, and execution of innovative projects in agroecology, environmental conservation, and biodiversity management.
As Director of the Technical Operations Unit of the Galápagos National Park Directorate, he coordinated and oversaw initiatives focused on the protection and sustainability of the archipelago, leading joint efforts with various national and international institutions. During his tenure as District Director of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock in Galápagos, he advanced sustainable agricultural policies, promoting agroecological practices that benefited both local producers and the region’s food security.
In his role as Cantonal Coordinator for Population and Residency Control, he implemented effective strategies to regulate population growth and residency distribution in the archipelago, aligned with principles of sustainability and conservation. As a Vehicle Control Analyst, he led the implementation of policies that helped mitigate the environmental impact of transportation, contributing to a development model that respects the natural environment.
