GLF Participates in the 28th RedLAC Congress in Bolivia
, October 6, 2026
The Galápagos Life Fund (GLF), a member of the Latin American and Caribbean Network of Environmental Funds (RedLAC), is participating in the network’s 28th Congress, taking place October 6–8 in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia.
The Congress brings together environmental funds from across Latin America and the Caribbean, multilateral organizations, governments, international cooperation agencies, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, conservation organizations, academia, and the private sector to exchange experiences, examine current challenges in conservation finance, and explore solutions to expand and strengthen financing for nature across the region.
Under the theme “Finance that Drives Conservation, Indigenous Peoples that Protect, Innovation that Transforms,” the Congress explores financial mechanisms that are creating new opportunities for conservation, including Project Finance for Permanence (PFP), debt-for-nature conversions, biodiversity credits, impact investing, and private-sector engagement.
Representing the GLF is Paulina Couenberg, Program Officer, who is taking part in discussions and working sessions alongside representatives of environmental funds and partner organizations from across the region.
GLF’s membership in RedLAC provides an important opportunity to strengthen relationships with organizations working toward a shared goal: turning financial resources into effective, sustainable, and long-term conservation action. It also creates opportunities to exchange experiences and identify financial mechanisms and best practices that can help increase the impact of investments in biodiversity conservation.
RedLAC currently brings together 30 environmental funds from 20 countries across Latin America and the Caribbean, serving as a regional platform for collaboration, partnership-building, and strengthening the role of environmental funds in conservation finance.
The GLF’s participation in the Congress reflects its continued commitment to building strategic partnerships and advancing financial solutions that support the conservation of Galápagos’ ecosystems and the sustainable development of its communities.
